If any of you are “Good Morning America” viewers, like myself, you will know what I’m talking about when I say “60’s style is back”! Okay, let me clarify, I don’t sit and watch “Good Morning America”, because there is always WAY TOO MUCH TO DO in the mornings. BUT, it is the show that I have on for “noise” while I’m doing other things around the house, which works out, because I can catch information like this….
Woodstock turns 40! 60’s style is back!
‘Good Morning America’ is doing a whole segment throughout the week on Woodstock turning 40! Today, they had a mini “Woodstock Now” fashion show. Clothing that reflects the 60’s with a current twist. So, for those of you that lean towards style that is earthy, natural, and bohemian…you are going to LOVE the fashions that are available with a 60’s flare!
To pull off the 60’s, Woodstock “look”, keep these things in mind:
Keep it Natural – this is the most important point to pulling off the 60’s style. You DO NOT want to look like you TRIED to look earthy and natural. Keep pieces simple, as well as hair and makeup should be simple. Avoid looking “done” or “over done”.
Free and Flowy – Keep garments loose and not structured. Avoid wearing really structured pieces. Today, they showed loose maxi dresses, full skirts, and flowy tops. You want to keep that “free spirit” feel throughout your “look”.
Fabrics/Prints – Prints were HUGE in the 60’s. Tie dye, flowers, paisleys, and beaded fabrics are very popular and helps in keeping the look simple. The patterns/prints will speak for themselves, so keep the rest of your “look” simple. Fringe and macrame defines the 60’s look too! (Do any of you remember when your mothers would take macrame classes? I remember this long, bright orange, hanging end table that my mom made with her macrame skills! It was “lovely”!) Macrame jewelry, as well as fringe boots and vests were used to accessorize outfits in the fashion show segments today.

Woodstock revival is upon us! This ties together with the “go green” movement that is upon us. Did we go back in time?
All I know is…it’s time to find your inner bohemian and determine what element of this trend may work for you! Happy Birthday, Woodstock!
Don’t delay…buy your 60’s style items today!

I saw yesterday that Target had some really cute — actually “mature” looking tees on sale that were kind of Woodstock-ish. They were the kind of thin layering tees and had some subdued graphics. Really cute and didn’t look like the came from Forever 21 — ha!!
I thought they would be darling with a pair of khaki shorts going to/from the pool or hanging out in the backyard with friends for a BBQ.
I have also seen the maxi dresses everywhere!! (You really notice cute trends when you are 9 months pregnant and can’t wear them. No fair!) Anyway, there are some pretty crazy prints out there but I have also seen some cute plainer ones that I would actually wear. I do wonder what kind of bra you are supposed to wear with those since they are spaghetti strapped and also kind of low-cut.

OK, that’s scary. I will be 60 in February – knowing that the clothes I wore in the 60s are coming back makes me feel really old! Remember how I said I needed help with my wardrobe, Heidi? Well, maybe I’m in style and didn’t know it! Love your blog, by the way!
