Happy 4th of July!! I can’t believe it is already the holiday weekend. The highlight of the summer! It seems after the 4th of July you are on the downward slope to Fall. Where is the summer going? I do have to admit, with it falling on a Saturday, it doesn’t REALLY feel like a holiday…just a glorified weekend! I’m sure other of you that are working this Friday, instead of having a day off, are thinking the very same thing!

I’m busy trying to throw things together to get ready for a weekend at the lake. Remember, I said that I couldn’t believe the holiday weekend is already here, and I wasn’t lying. I REALLY was not ready for it to be here yet. So, I’m scrambling and even made the mistake of going to the grocery store this afternoon…BAD IDEA…but, it felt good to know that I wasn’t the ONLY one that didn’t know the 4th of July was tomorrow! (By the way, the new Reasors, in Jenks, is beautiful! The most challenging part is there are people and carts wondering aimlessly, EVERYWHERE, as they try and navigate their way through the new aisles.)

ANYWAY, for those of you NOT heading to the lake(s) this weekend or spending it outdoors, it is a PERFECT weekend to go SHOPPING! Seriously, 4th of July is, typically, the turning point for retailers to start pushing through their summer merchandise and start setting their fall merchandise. BIG…HUGE….SALES are kicking off THIS WEEKEND! You can pretty much pick any retailer and they have already started their summer sale or they are kicking it off this weekend! It’s time to get rid of the summer merchandise, which is crazy! Remenber, it’s only the beginning of July. But, the retail cycle works differently than the rest of the world.  The great thing about it for us, Oklahomans, is…we have A LOT of summer left…more specifically, A LOT of summer weather left!! So, think of all the great savings on merchandise that you can still be wearing for the next 3-4 months to come!

So, if I had my choice, I would be staying indoors, enjoying the air conditioning, and stocking up on some fabulous summer merchandise from apparel to home decor and everything in between! Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE going to the lake, I really do! But, with this HEAT, I could really USE (get it..use…not want…NEED!)some new tank tops, shorts, and some fun, summer dresses to stay cool! (hee..hee..)
