RE:School Lunch/Snack Ideas: $100 Reasor's Gift Card Giveaway

My kids love to be creative due in part to home schooling we make it apart of our everyday activities.

A fun lunch is make sandwiches then take cookie cutters and press to make fun shaped sandwiches

Let them make their own fun trail mix with all kinds of things in the kitchen...cereals, marshmallows, nuts, teddy grams, goldfish.

Fun Mini Pizza's: take rolls cut in half. Put pizza sauce or BBQ sauce on halves. Turn broiler on or toaster oven. Put out all kinds of toppings (pepporoni's, diced ham, chicken strips, pineapple chucks, bright colored veggies, different cheeses ect...) make funny faces with the toppings. Then place their food art on a flat pan then watch till items are heated up. (about 45 sec. - 1.5 min.) cool 4 a bit then enjoy the laughs and smiles.

RE:School Lunch/Snack Ideas: $100 Reasor's Gift Card Giveaway

My kid will take PB&J every day if I let her. A good thermos makes for some hot alternatives, but mostly it's PB&J, a frozen Go-Gurt, pretzels and a drink. Occasionally I'll send a homemade 'lunchable': Meat, cheese and crackers plus grapes and a juice box. It's cheaper and generally healthier.

Oh, if your kid's a PB&J kid like mine, be sure to put a little PB on both slices of bread. This will keep the bread from getting soggy.

Thanks for the tips. I'll see if I can get my girl out of her rut.

RE:School Lunch/Snack Ideas: $100 Reasor's Gift Card Giveaway

I usually keep a variety of lunch meat, whole wheat bread and tortillas, pb&j, honey, crackers, etc. I let my daughter "make her own" lunch the night before. She has come up with some interesting recipes all on her own, and always eats it because she made it herself. Her favorite now is turkey roll ups.

1 whole wheat tortilla
turkey
drop of cream cheese
roll up and refrigerate

I have seen several good ideas and some that we do at our home. Here is a different one: We cut up tortillas fry them then toss them in cinnamon and sugar. Not real healthy but its a good treat every once in awhile.
Love 918 MOMS...wow-thanks for the opportunity!

My kids love my "homemade lunchableas." It's so easy to toss some lunch meat, cheese, and crackers into baggies. They get exactly the kinds of each they like and I save money. I also do homemade snack mix of whatever I feel like: teddy grahams, raisins, pretzles, goldfish, mini oreos, peanuts, dried mixed berries, m&ms, wheat thins, etc. They also like the Cheez-it snack mix (me too). I rarely buy pre-packaged snacks, always try to bag my own. Although, I do offer chewy granola bars, too. I make a variety of snack bag choices and they get to pick what they want to take each day.

This is a recipe I got from my MIL. She used to make them for her boys and they are always a hit at church fellowships. You can stick them in the freezer and pull them out in the morning for lunches and they will be a great consistency by lunch time. You can also just leave them in the fridge and let them sit a couple of minutes before serving.

Super Simple Peanut Butter Balls
1/2 c honey
1/2 c peanut butter
1 cup non-fat dry milk
1 cup rolled oats
graham cracker crumbs (or wheat germ)(about a cup)

Combine honey, peanut butter, dry milk, and oats. Roll into 1" balls. Roll balls in crumbs or wheat germ. Store in refrigerator. Makes 36 approx.

I love having cut celery soaking in water inside the fridge. The celery is a great snack, the water makes it crisp, and the water helps with hydration during the hot afternoons.

I sometimes send my daughter's favorite cereal for her school lunch. It is fortified with all the vitamins she needs for the day, all she does is add milk! It's a great alternative to PB&J sandwiches everyday!
